GARY BLEVINS
Food and Beverage Director
Serving Prestige Estates for 19 years
gblevins@prestigeestates.net
A native of Tyler, Texas, Gary began cooking at a very early age under the tutelage of his grandmother. He is a proud product of Tyler Public Schools and attended Jarvis Christian University in Hawkins, Texas.
Gary’s career in long-term health care began in the fall of 1995 when he accepted a position as Dietary Manager/Head Chef at Atria Copeland Assisted Living in Tyler. During his 2½ years there, he quickly demonstrated his strong management style, exceptional cooking skills, event planning expertise, and organizational abilities. Through thoughtful menu planning and implementation, Gary consistently delivered meals that delighted residents and their families — becoming a key selling point for the community.
Being from East Texas, Gary’s authentic southern cooking style leaves everyone with the comforting taste of “how grandma used to cook.” His talents did not go unnoticed; he was soon sought out by The Grand Court, where he served for two years, and then by Country Place Village in Kilgore, Texas, for another two years. At each of these communities, Gary had the privilege of leading their dietary teams from the very beginning, helping establish strong culinary programs from the ground up.
After his tenure in Kilgore, Gary was invited to return to Tyler to help launch Garden Estates of Tyler, which had acquired The Grand Court. At the residents’ request, he was contacted and welcomed back.
In June 2006, Gary joined the Redman family in the founding of what is now Prestige Estates Assisted Living and Memory Care. Over the past 19½ years, he has continued to demonstrate his firm management style, skillful menu planning, and ability to foster lasting relationships with residents and their families.
Gary’s daily responsibilities include supervising dietary and hospitality staff, mentoring cooks and team members, ordering food and supplies, managing inventory, budgeting, menu development, and overseeing maintenance and operational functions within his department. His true passion shines through in his homemade, from-scratch desserts, which have become a beloved tradition at Prestige.
In addition, Gary oversees and caters all major events, including monthly Alzheimer’s Support Group luncheons, annual Resident and Family Holiday Dinners, birthday celebrations, Alzheimer’s Day Club luncheons, and monthly resident activity meals, to name a few.
Since Prestige opened its doors, Gary’s dedication has never wavered. Whether through kitchen renovations, COVID challenges, or severe weather — rain, sleet, ice, or snow — he has ensured the kitchen remains operational and that residents receive a hot breakfast every day. Prestige has truly become a cherished part of Gary’s daily life and legacy.
